AH! Conrad Veidt! I love his acting! I can't help it though, I'm a big fan of silent film, especially the German Expressionist movement. It's funny how, despite being so handsome, he ends up being cast almost always as a bad guy.
Speaking of Casablanca... isn't it interesting how a movie with such a mediocre set/plot/acting [not all of it]/music could all come together to become one of the most highly rated movies of all time? I like it too, but thinking about it, it's a pretty cheap movie.
Thank you so much! Oh, I have to agree on almost everything here: I adore German Expressionist movement, and silent movie in general. It has been a while since I had time to dedicate to watch good silent movie, I miss watching them!<3
and Casablanca... I remember before watching it I had a total different plot in mind, and then I ended with being almost defeated by the whole thing... I really don't know where its great success comes from, honestly lol. Yes, cheap and mostly plain movie, but...
Anyway, love the use of media in this piece and how you pull together what might have otherwise been an overly busy piece. The texture of the paper, tape, and paint adds a lot of interest, but the neutral color scheme and clear rendering of the form keeps it nicely focused. You've done a great job creating a controlled sort of chaos.
